How to Make Reservations for a Victoria Falls Trip

Untold Africa

Start with the right order

A trip to Victoria Falls usually involves several reservations: somewhere to stay, transfers, and the activities you want to do. Making them in the right order saves a lot of back-and-forth.

  • Fix your travel dates and how you are arriving.
  • Reserve accommodation, especially for busy times of year or larger groups.
  • Reserve activities that depend on conditions or have limited space, such as rafting, scenic flights or a private guide.
  • Add transfers between the airport, your accommodation and your activities.
  • Leave some time unbooked for the town, rest, and anything you hear about once you arrive.

Hotel and lodge reservations

Choose the area first: in town near the Falls, on the upper Zambezi, or near Zambezi National Park. Then compare places on what matters to you, such as walking distance to the Falls, meals, family rooms or accessibility.

Before you confirm a hotel reservation, check what the rate includes, the cancellation terms and whether a deposit is needed. These vary from place to place, so read them rather than assuming.

Activity reservations

Popular activities include the guided rainforest walk, sunset cruises on the upper Zambezi, white-water rafting, bridge activities and scenic flights over the Falls. Some can be arranged at short notice; others are worth reserving earlier, especially at busy times.

Rafting depends on the river level, and operators set their own age and health requirements. Check these before you reserve, or ask us to check them for you.

National park visits

Victoria Falls National Park, Zambezi National Park and parks further away such as Hwange each have their own entry arrangements and fees. These can change, so check the current rules with the park authorities or ask us when you plan.

What to include in a reservation enquiry

  • Dates: Arrival and departure dates, and whether they are flexible.
  • Travellers: How many adults and children, with the children’s ages.
  • Budget: A rough range per night or for the whole trip.
  • Interests: The activities you are most looking forward to.
  • Needs: Accessibility, dietary needs or a special occasion.
  • Contact: An email address, and a WhatsApp number if you have one.

Reservation or booking?

In travel the two words are often used to mean the same thing. Where there is a difference, a reservation is usually the request or hold, and a booking is the confirmed arrangement, often once a deposit or payment has been made.

Whichever word a supplier uses, check whether your place is confirmed and what the cancellation terms are.

Keep it simple

If you would rather not manage several reservations yourself, we can arrange accommodation, activities and transfers together, or just the parts you want help with.
